What you can do.
Writing is not my day job. I am self-employed and run my own poster press, Infojocks Sports Graphics, where we tell the story of sports through statistical analysis. I consider it something akin to the art of sports statistics. Buy a poster. They are swell.
Being a starving artist never sat too well with myself or the people that care about me, and when I decide to focus all of my energy on writing fiction I want to be able to do it without the stress of paychecks. One day, with a bit of fortune and lots of hard labor, my business will support my literary ambitions without eating up a full commitment of my work week.
Until then, to support my work, the best thing you can do is stay engaged with my Tumblr account by reblogging and spreading the word.
Financially, if you are willing and able to help me pursue the craft of fiction, donate whatever you can spare via the secure service PayPal. It will go directly to adding books to my bookshelf, which is the most valuable currency for any aspiring author. (If you don’t trust that, go ahead and mail me a book. Seriously. Email me at jsyingling [at] gmail [dot] com and I’ll shoot you over my mailing address.)
All support, financially or otherwise, is absolutely appreciated. However, for those who donate more than $10.00, I’d love to give you something back. Come up with any sort of prompt, plug it in the space provided on the PayPal form, and I’ll do my best to write something up and snail mail it to you.
And of course, I have plans in place for some longer works that will be available for purchase. Nothing too concrete yet, but as details emerge, I’ll post them on this blog.
Thanks for your support and putting up with this awkward little post.
